100 Firefighters Extinguished a Building Fire in Mangga Dua

As many as 100 personnel of North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency successfully managed fire that burned Agres ID Building on Jalan Gunung Sahari, Ancol Urban Village, Pademangan District.

We directly deployed 17 firetrucks

Sub-agency's Head Section of Operation, Gatot Sulaeman, said one of the employees reported the fire incident at 10:09 AM.

"We directly deployed 17 firetrucks with 100 personnel," he said, Monday (8/4).

Mitigation Efforts Strengthened to Curb Fire Outbreaks

Gatot explained the fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit on one of the building's floors. Initial response efforts were unsuccessful, and the fire grew.

The fire, he added, which engulfed the third and fourth floors covering an area of 3,000 square meters, was brought under control at 12:02 PM. Then it continued with cooling process.

"The extinguishing process was completed fully at 1:30 PM. There were no fatalities in this fire incident," he added.

Meanwhile, one of the witnesses, Novi stated she saw sparks coming from cables on the fourth floor of the shop house, which had lots of piles of flammable cardboard boxes.

"Thankfully the firefighter personnel came immediately to manage the fire," she admitted.
